An Area Control Surveillance (ACS) rating entitles the holder to provide an air traffic control service in control areas with the use of surveillance equipment.
The Radar rating endorsement to the area control surveillance rating indicates that radar is used as the surveillance equipment.
Area Control Surveillance rating with Radar endorsement (ACS+RAD) is a rating training module designed to teach the students how to control traffic in an Area environment. Throughout the entire training the future controllers are taught the skills required to be a tactical controller in an Area environment.
The training is composed of both theoretical lessons and events, followed by practical applications in a classroom and in a simulator.
The theoretical training contains a series of classroom lessons – consisting of new subjects as well as reviews and enhancements of subjects from the Basic ATC module related to Area Control Services.
Simulation takes place within a dynamic environment, using a realistic operational airspace configuration in a generic airspace.
Entry Point North hires instructors from a current operational ATC environment. This enables us to maintain a very close link with new developments and a high level of competency. Throughout the training, all students operate in a teamwork simulator environment, enhancing a well structured learning process.
The module follows closely the Eurocontrol Common Core Content specifications and prerequisites, EU standards and Best Practice agreements.
