In November 2015, we successfully delivered an on-site ATM Safety Case course for Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS). The purpose of a safety case is to communicate a clear, comprehensive, and justifiable argument that a system is accepted as safe to operate in a particular context. This can of course be a challenging task in a complex and quickly changing environment like Dubai.
The 12 course participants however took the challenge and all actively engaged in the course. With their operational background as Air Traffic Controllers and Engineers, they ensured a balanced view of the many aspects related to the development of an ATM Safety Case. With a combination of lectures and case studies, the participants were taken through relevant safety case topics, placed in the context of progressive safety thinking.
The course received excellent feedback and we will continue developing and offering safety courses that satisfy the future needs within the aviation industry.
