During June 2017, Entry Point North delivered an OJTI training programme on-site in Bangkok for ATC staff of Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (Aerothai). The programme consisted of three intensive five-day courses featuring twelve participants on each course. The courses were aimed at new and current on-the-job-training instructors whose responsibility is to coach and guide new trainees on the unit training and was delivered by human factor experts from Entry Point North, Malmö.
The OJTI training was delivered in accordance with Entry Point North’s training philosophy which was very positively received by the Aerothai participants. The participants stated that the course methodology and tools aligned well with the cultural working environment in South East Asia. The majority of the training was delivered using Entry Point North’s portable simulators, making the course as similar as possible to how we deliver it at our own training sites. During the simulator training, the participants practiced various real life situations, for instance supervising various types of trainees.
The first part of each day focused on theoretical lessons followed by interactive discussions, whilst the second part was devoted to simulator training, which revolved around engaging role-play exercises.
“I was very happy to see so much involvement in courses from the participants’ side. It was a pleasure working with these engaged and motivated new instructors and course assistants who had such an eagerness to learn,”
– says Theis Larsen, instructor on the OJTI course.
Entry Point North is especially thankful for the hospitality received from Aerothai in Bangkok and extends its best wishes to all the newly trained OJTIs.
