ATSEP Workshop 2016

On 12 – 13 October 2016, we hosted the 4th International ATSEP Workshop in Malmö, Sweden. This workshop is held annually aiming to broaden the knowledge in ATSEP training, to discuss the upcoming regulations and to share best practices among different organisations.

As every year, it was our pleasure to welcome more than 30 participants representing 23 different organisations. During around the world tour, the participants introduced their ATSEP organisations and how they handle ATSEP training. Ken Engelstad, Rulemaking officer at EASA, briefed the participants on the latest EASA information on ATSEP regulation, which was followed by a lively discussion and Q&A session. Arben Sancolli, Training Expert from the Albanian ANSP Albcontrol, presented ATSEP training scheme and experience from his organisation. We closed day 1 with a workshop and group discussions on S/E training, where the participants exchanged their experience and presented the conclusions to everyone.

On day 2, we continued with discussions on ATSEP OJTI and Assessor training with a presentation by Entry Point North’s Development Specialist Anne-Mette Petri. Urban Enström, Business Development Manager at Eltel Networks Infranet AB, introduced the participants to ATSEP training at ELTEL and Andreas Meyer, Safety Expert at IFATSEA, delivered his “Training for the unexpected by IFATSEA” presentation. We closed the day and the workshop with Mikael Höglund and his interesting presentation on Remotely Operated Towers and the challenges they may pose in future.

We believe the event provided a great opportunity for the participants to share and learn from each other’s experience. We would like to thank all participants for taking an active part in the workshop and we hope to see you at next year’s ATSEP Workshop in September 2017.
