ATSEP Workshop 2017
On 19 – 20 September, we had the pleasure of hosting the International ATSEP Workshop in Malmö, Sweden. As every year, the ATSEP workshop brought together representatives from various organisations across Europe, Middle East and Asia and provided an excellent opportunity to actively share latest news, regulation updates and developments and to generate professional discussions.
We opened the 2-day workshop with the “around the world tour”, where all participants introduced their ATSEP organisations and their approach to ATSEP training. We continued with the latest update on ATSEP regulation prepared by Mr Ken Engelstad, Rulemaking officer at The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and a Q&A teleconference. Afterwards Mr Magnus Johansson and Mr Martin Truedsson from Combitech presented ideas on the industry support possibilities to S/E Rating training. We closed the day with a group work and discussions on assessment of ATSEP within the participating organisations.
On day 2, we continued the workshop with Competency Based Training for ATSEP presentation delivered by Entry Point North’s Development Director Mrs Kerstin Sjöbeck. Mr Robert Whittlestone, Senior Project Manager at RUAG, presented training and assessment of ATSEPs at RUAG Defence as well as various ATSEP-related challenges. His presentation was followed by a group work focused on ATSEP Refresher/Qualification training. Mr Henrik Tvilling Jensen, project manager at Naviair, introduced the participants into the future of space based ADS-B and we closed the day and the workshop with a comprehensive overview of ATSEP training scheme at Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (Aerothai), presented by Mr Siri Rattanasiripirom, Director Human Resource Development – Engineering Department, and Mr Rachan Lekkla, Engineering Manager – Human Resource Development.
We believe the event provided a great opportunity for the participants to share and learn from each other’s experience. We would like to thank all participants for taking an active part in the workshop and we hope to see you at next ATSEP Workshop at Entry Point North academy.
