ATSEP seminar 26-27 September 2024

Entry Point North welcomes you to our annual ATSEP Seminar in Malmö, Sweden. This year, the Seminar will focus on the future challenges for ATSEPs.

This will be a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with fellow ATSEP colleagues, share knowledge, gain inspiration and discuss future challenges.

The Seminar will be held from the 26th to the 27th of September, at the Elite Hotel Esplanade, Master Johansgatan 15, Malmö, Sweden.

Thursday 26 September

09.00 – 09.30      Registration and coffee

09.30 – 10.00      Welcome and introduction

10.00 – 10.45      EASA Regulatory updates for ATSEP

10.45 – 11.00      Coffee break

11.00 – 12.30      Digital Towers – implementation and requirements

Speakers: Erik Roos, LVNL (IFATSEA + EASA workgroup on Digital Towers), and Tobias Ohlsson, Aviseq/LFV

Erik Roos and Tobias Ohlsson will describe how they have worked with the implementation of digital towers in LVNL and Aviseq. Based on their hands-on experience and their involvement in IFATSEA and EASA workgroups, they will discuss future scenarios and training requirements for ATSEPs following the implementation of digital towers.

12.30 – 13.30      Lunch

13.30 – 15.00      How to make AI work in ATM

Speaker: Dr Ulrich Scholten – PhD in Cloud Computing and has developed ATSEP qualification solutions since 2008

Dr Ulrich Scholten will explain how data architecture needs to be conceived to make AI-based algorithms possible, as well as cybersecurity and new requirements in an AI-enabled/AI-optimised architecture. He will shed light on requirements for data sovereignty in the Single European Sky and ethical implications. Lastly, he will describe ATSEP training possibilities and contemplate possible evolutions of the ATSEP and ATCO roles.

15.30 – 16.30      GPS Interference

Speaker: Steve Sõeruer, Surveillance Service Manager – Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS)

Steve Sõeruer will present lessons learned on spoofing, threat types and impacts, GPS RFI detection, the scope of jamming near Estonia and localising the jammer.

17.30 –      Activity and dinner in Malmö

Friday 27 September

09.30 – 10.30      CBTA for you

Speakers: Anne Mette Petri, Managing Partner PB Capacity, and Maja Borrie, Project Manager Entry Point North

Anne Mette Petri and Maja Borrie will speak about Competency-Based Training and Assessment – what it is and the philosophy behind it, what the requirements are (both current and future) and how to work with it to get it implemented and formalised. They will also explore challenges in practical work with CBTA for each ATSEP but also for the organisation.

11.00 – 12.00      CBTA for you (continued) and group discussions

12.00 – 12.30      Discussions, summary and closing remarks

12.45 –      Lunch and end of the Seminar

Travel and accommodation

Travel and accommodation should be arranged individually by Seminar participants.

The city of Malmö is easily reachable by flying to Copenhagen Airport, followed by a convenient 15-minute train ride. 

Entry Point North will be able to offer accommodation at a special rate at the Elite Esplanade Hotel.

The Seminar package price is EUR 120 per person, including two Seminar days, lunch on both days and dinner on the first day.
