On 23 February 2018, the first group of Spanish ATC students graduated from Entry Point North Spain in Madrid. The site was established in 2017 as the fifth training site under Entry Point North Group and offers Basic and all Rating training for Spanish students who plan to work for ENAIRE or any other Air Navigation Service Provider in Spain.
The newly graduated group consisted of eight students who have been operational air traffic controllers in private towers in various locations in Spain. They have successfully completed a programme of APS, ACS and APP/ACP courses and will do their unit training at airports throughout Spain, including Barcelona, Menorca and Tenerife.
During the course delivery, Entry Point North Spain was closely supported by the headquarters in Malmö. The course management team consisted of both highly experienced instructors from Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Ukraine, Croatia and New Zealand. The student feedback describes the nine months training in Spain as a valuable experience where they have learned a lot through the intensive hands on simulator training sessions and feel now well-prepared for upcoming unit training.
The training site in Madrid is equipped with 14 radar simulator positions and three state-of-the-art 180° TWR 3D simulators.
During 2018, new air traffic control training programmes will start at Entry Point North Spain.
