This June it was the first time that Entry Point North has had the pleasure of welcoming six Air Traffic Controllers from PACA Oman (Public Authority for Civil Aviation in Oman) to our academy in Malmö, who took part in an Instructing in Emergency Training course. The participants are operational tower, approach and area controllers in the country’s capital Muscat and in Salalah on the east coast, who also work as instructors. The aim of the five-day course was to train the participants to become successful instructors in emergency training for air traffic controllers as well as developing their skills in creating effective and realistic emergency situations to be used in simulator training.
The course consisted of a combination of theory and discussions, as well as exercises in our simulator where the participants practiced their instructor skills in emergency situations. The participants commented that the course provided them with useful tools and ideas which enable them to plan and conduct emergency training for their colleagues in Oman. We are pleased with this successful outcome of the course and it would be our pleasure to welcome participants from PACA Oman to Entry Point North in the future.
