Aerodrome Flight Information Service with Surveillance
Course aim This course imparts knowledge and skills to Aerodrome Flight Information Service Officer (AFISO) students, which qualifies them to work with surveillance equipment.
Course objectives After completing the course, the participants have:
- The student shall have knowledge, skills and understanding in accordance with the course content (see Content in brief).
- The student shall have skills to perform AFIS/HFIS with surveillance equipment safely, expeditiously, orderly and according to rules and regulations.
Course overview The training is divided into five phases with a blend of theoretical and practical training with increasing degrees of difficulty.
Theory The theoretical lessons are aimed at preparing prepare the students for the simulator training as well as for OJTI training at an AFIS airport with surveillance equipment.
Simulator training Theoretical events will be followed by practical applications in a simulator. Practical training objectives are evaluated by an instructor, and training and evaluating include personal briefing and debriefing for each simulator run and various reports based on the course objectives.
Prerequisites A successful completion of Entry Point North’s AFIS course or operational experience as an aerodrome/helicopter flight information service operator.

- Approved by the Swedish and Norwegian CAA.
