Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel Orientation
COURSE AIM The course addresses personnel that might not be directly impacted by the ATSEP regulation Annex XIII Part-Pers in the regulation 373/2017, but still are in a need of basic ATSEP knowledge in their daily duties. This could be project managers, group manager or others who work together with ATSEP personnel.
COURSE OBJECTIVES After completing the course, the participants has:
- A basic understanding of how CNS (Communication, Navigation and Surveillance) are used in ATM and how it support the operations.
- A basic understanding of the technical concepts used in ATM in the areas of CNS, AIM and AIS.
- An awareness of the role of ATSEP in the ATM organisation.
COURSE OVERVIEW The theory consists of individual topics covering various aspects of operating and maintaining ATM equipment. It includes subjects such as the description of CNS/ATM service and the organisation of airspace and airports. It gives an orientation of integrated traffic flow, meteorology, means of communication, coordination and the equipment used in performing a safe air traffic control service, etc.
The course consists of lectures and is 3 days in length. A tailor-made course can be offered according to individual client needs.
CONTENT IN BRIEF Our ATSEP Orientation is meant as an orientation for non-ATSEP personnel. The course consists of topics from the ATSEP Basic course and takes into account the background, experience and needs of the participating personnel. We can tailor the course to your needs by incorporating topics that are relevant to your personnel. The standard course covers the following:
Air Traffic Management
Definition of the organisation of ANSP and the global Air Traffic Management organisations that are involved.
Meteorology and AIS
Describing the impact of meteorology on aircraft and ATS operations, the importance of meteorological information in ATM. Definition of the organisation of AIS and the AIS role.
Basic knowledge of the principles used in both voice and data communication.
Orientation of the principles of navigation and navigational aids and their use in ATM.
Orientation of the basic principles used in primary radar, secondary radar and other surveillance systems, and their use in ATM operations.
Orientation of the principles used in data processing and their use in ATM operations for flight plan data and other aeronautical data used for flight progress update in ATM systems.
