Let us introduce the 893 Regulatory Excellence Project Team!
This is a project that needs a broad understanding and demands a comprehensive understanding of complex regulatory landscapes, so we have involved a cross-functional ensemble of experts from our Development, Training, Quality and Online departments.
All ATC initial training material have been carefully revised and these were submitted to the Swedish regulator beginning of May and on the 25th of June we received the approval.
The implementation of Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/893 is ongoing and these hard working and highly skilled colleagues will see to that everything is settled and ready for delivery on August 4th.
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/893 has introduced amendments to Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/340, which outlines the technical requirements and administrative procedures for air traffic controllers’ licences and certificates. These changes are set to become effective on August 4th, 2024, and encompass some of the following key elements relevant for initial training: simplification of the ratings and rating endorsements system, updates to initial training requirements, and alignment with other EU regulations and ICAO SARPs.
In response to these changes, EPN has initiated module update projects to ensure that the EPN Group’s ATCO initial training is both compliant, up-to-date, and ready for delivery after August 4th.
Throughout December 2023, our primary focus was on the impact assessment of the new regulation, exploring cross-module correlations, establishing harmonised working methods, and compiling inputs from previous deliveries. The current focus of our work is on Basic ATC, Human Factor lessons, and the ACS module, which will be followed by the APS, TCL, ADC (old ADI rating), APP and ACP. Feedback is obtained from all training delivery sites across the EPN Group. This cooperative approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of the training needs and allows for the incorporation of valuable insights from across the organisation.
