Over the years, AEROTHAI, Thailand’s air navigation service provider (ANSP), has worked with Entry Point North across several training areas.
When Saralee Pruksaritanon recently joined Entry Point North’s OJTI and Assessor course in Malmö, the course was directly linked to a wider organisational objective: supporting AEROTHAI’s work to strengthen its ATCO competency assessment programme.
With a background as an approach controller, and now as HR Assistant Manager at AEROTHAI, she works with Human Factors training for air traffic controllers and is responsible for the development of ATCO training and competency assessment systems within the organisation. To do that, she needed a clearer understanding of how instructors and assessors work in practice, and how their roles support consistent and effective training systems.

A clearer view of instructor and assessor roles

For Saralee, the course gave her a clearer picture of how important these functions are in developing qualified and competent controllers, and in maintaining safety and quality in operations. It also made her more aware of the challenges instructors and assessors face, and what organisations need to do to support them well.
For AEROTHAI, that insight feeds directly into the wider work of strengthening assessment and development structures.
How the learning supports AEROTHAI’s work
The training will directly support AEROTHAI’s ATCO competency assessment project by helping align internal frameworks with international practice. Saralee is taking back both a stronger foundation in OJTI and assessor principles and practical insight into how those roles work in real training environments.
On a personal level, she also describes the experience as valuable and memorable. Alongside knowledge and practical tools, she says it gave her confidence, inspiration and an even greater appreciation for the people who train and assess controllers.
