ATSEP training for ANSPs and others
For Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and the teams responsible for ATSEP capability, performance and compliance.
- Heads of Training and training planners
- CNS engineering management and technical leads
- Safety, quality and compliance roles
- Workforce planning and competence management
- OJTIs, instructors and assessors responsible for consistency
- Technical training managers and specialists
Who the training supports
ATSEP training can support the following roles and use cases:
- New ATSEPs building initial competence (Basic and Shared)
- Qualified ATSEPs progressing through qualification domains (COM, NAV, SUR, DPR-DP, SMC)
- ATSEPs requiring continuation training, refreshers or change-driven conversion
- OJTIs and assessors strengthening training quality and assessment consistency
- Industry professionals who need an ATSEP orientation
The challenges ANSPs face
ATSEP training is rarely just a training question. It is an
operational continuity and compliance question too.
Operational pressures:
- Staffing gaps and limited release time for training
- Increasing system complexity and faster technology cycles
- Security and resilience requirements
- Regulatory alignment and audit readiness
- Budget pressure and the need to scale competence efficiently
What makes it difficult in practice:
- Keeping competence consistent across shifts, locations and teams
- Avoiding cancellations when operations take priority
- Making assessments fair, comparable and defensible
- Bridging theory to confident performance in operational environments
- Maintaining oversight and evidence of competence progression

How Entry Point North supports ATSEP capability
A structured approach built around your operation, timelines and compliance requirements.
Align
We align on your operational context, constraints, target outcomes and timelines.
Design
We map the right mix of initial, qualification and continuation training, plus instructor and assessor development where needed.
Deliver
Delivered onsite at Entry Point North, at your locations, online, or blended, depending on what best supports your operational continuity.
Assure quality
We build in quality assurance, instructor competence and feedback loops to support safety, compliance and consistency.
ATSEP training options
Choose your starting point:
Basic knowledge of operational and technical ATM, preparing participants for Shared and qualification training.
ICAO-compliant training for technical personnel who operate and maintain ATM equipment.
Shared and domain training to build competence for operating and maintaining CNS/ATM systems (COM, NAV, SUR, DPR-DP, SMC).
Update and/or confirmation of knowledge for Basic, Shared and chosen domains.
An introduction to aviation meteorological systems, building the skills needed to work with meteorological equipment.
Targeted modules and specialised training solutions where needed.
See scheduled ATSEP courses for individuals and smaller training groups here.
Delivery options and flexibility
Most ANSPs need a delivery setup that works with staffing realities.
Available options include:
- Onsite delivery at Entry Point North for structured training groups and access to professional training environments
- Online delivery for theory, continuation and flexible upskilling
- Blended setups combining onsite and online where it improves throughput
- On your premises delivery when it best supports operational continuity

Quality and compliance
ATSEP competence needs to be consistent, auditable and operationally relevant. Our approach supports:
- Regulatory compliance with EU and ICAO objectives and taxonomy levels
- Clear progression and oversight to make compliance easier to demonstrate
- Assessment consistency through aligned standards, instructor and assessor competence, and QA loops
- Operational continuity through delivery formats that reduce disruption without lowering standards

FAQ
The recent EU 2017/373 revision provides ANSPs and course participants flexibility in how they build an ATSEP training path. To become an ATSEP, course participants must complete ATSEP Basic Shared, at least one of the Basic Streams, ATSEP Qualification Shared (Q Shared), and at least one Qualification Stream relevant to the ATSEP profile.
ATSEPs generally have an engineering or vocational technical background before entering ATS.
The ATSEP Basic course is designed for technical personnel operating and maintaining Air Traffic Management (ATM) equipment. It provides basic knowledge of ATM’s operational and technical aspects and prepares learners for the next steps in the ATSEP training path, including the ATSEP Qualification Shared (Q Shared) and Qualification Streams.
Qualification Training is designed to impart the knowledge needed to explain the purpose of each system, each piece of equipment and its technical specification. After successful completion of ATSEP Basic Training, the learner completes Qualification Shared (Q Shared), followed by one or more Qualification Streams relevant to the ATSEP profile.
Price is mainly driven by four elements: the training scope and level you need, the delivery method you choose, the number of participants and courses over time, and the degree of customisation.
You will have access to the online material for 90 days after registration. Please see the specific course page for the estimated number of hours required to complete the material.
All our open courses are delivered online. On Demand is fully online self-study. Live Guidance includes scheduled sessions with an instructor in a virtual classroom to deep dive into the self-study content.
Yes. Many ANSPs and CNS providers prefer to include ATSEP Basic, Qualification Shared, Qualification Streams, refresher training, and OJTI and Assessor training in multi-year agreements. This often gives more predictable costs, better planning and simpler internal budgeting compared to buying single courses one by one.
No. We do not offer open on-site classroom courses. Please check our On Demand and Live Guidance offerings instead.
All our courses are compliant with Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/373 Annex XIII, Subpart A and/or ICAO Doc 10057.
Please note that ATSEP training content must be approved by the national regulator.
No. We leave practical and equipment-specific training to the individual providers
Entry Point North delivers comprehensive training for Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP). This includes the ATSEP Basic course and ATSEP qualification courses across each domain, for example Communication (COM), Navigation (NAV), Surveillance (SUR), System Monitoring and Control (SMC) and Data Processing (DPR). We also offer ATSEP OJTI and Assessor courses.
Yes. Many of our customers choose to run their training at our expanded site in Spain. Please contact Sales so we can help identify the location that best meets your needs.
